Marion Co. woman accused of locking malnourished 3-year-old in room appears in court

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A Marion County woman appeared in Magistrate Court Thursday afternoon.

Brittany Lippencott faces child neglect charges after law enforcement officials say a three-year-old child was found malnourished and injured in her care last week. The child also told deputies that Lippencott used pliers to injure him in his lip area and genital area.

Lawyers for Lippencott asked for a reduction in her bail during the hearing, which was denied.

Her bail remains set at $100,000.

Lippencott was arrested by deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department after they investigated a tip saying she was distributing controlled substances with children in her home. During the investigation into this tip, deputies said they found a 3-year-old child, who appeared malnourished, locked in a room.
