A Morgantown man has been arrested on sexual assault charges following an incident in November.
According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, on Monday, November 12, 2018, four Sheetz co-workers arranged to meet up at an apartment on Kaustin Drive in Morgantown for a social get-together. Deputies said that witnesses advised law enforcement that they began consuming alcohol at approximately 8:00 a.m.
One of the witnesses told deputies that one of the attendees, Paul Musgrove, 36, of Morgantown made comments about wanting to get intimate with a woman at the social event, which the male witness advised him not to, deputies said.
A female witness told deputies that the woman became sick from consuming an excessive amount of alcohol at approximately 3:00 p.m. The female witness then told deputies she provided care for the woman in the bathroom, until Musgrove approached them and told the female witness that he would take care of the woman.
Deputies said that a male witness who lived at the apartment the social event was being held, noticed his bedroom door was wide open and was able to observe Musgrove performing sexual intercourse on the woman while she lay motionless on the bed. The male witness approached the female witness in the living room and advised her to check the bedroom, according to deputies. Deputies said the female witness also observed Musgrove performing sexual intercourse on the woman while she lay motionless on the bed.
According to deputies, the male witness confronted Musgrove and demanded that he leave the apartment, to which Musgrove complied. Deputies said the male witness had to lift the woman up so the female witness could help her get her clothes back on.
Deputies said the victim does not remember what happened and did not give Musgrove consent.
Musgrove has been charged with second degree sexual assault.
