Nutter Fort man charged with child neglect

NUTTER FORT, W.Va. – A Nutter Fort man has been arrested after police said he had smoked methamphetamine and fallen asleep when he was supposed to be watching his son.

Officers with the Nutter Fort Police Department received a complaint on a possible child neglect occurring at an Illinois Avenue residence in Nutter Fort and found Michael Lehmkuhle, 41, of Nutter Fort, asleep, according to the criminal complaint.

When police entered Lehmkuhle’s residence, they found multiple items of drug paraphernalia and a half pill of Xanax, according to the criminal complaint. Upon finding Lehmkuhle in the residence, he was holding a small glass pipe with apparent methamphetamine in it, according to the complaint.

Police woke Lehmkuhle, who realized his son was no longer in bed with him, and told police that is was his daily routine to nap with his son throughout the day and that he had smoked methamphetamine around midnight the previous night, according to the complaint.

Lehmkulhe is being held in North Central Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond.
