A Pennsylvania man was arrested in Monongalia County after troopers said they recovered crack cocaine, marijuana, crystal meth and pills during a traffic stop.

On Saturday, April 20, West Virginia State Police were responding to a disturbance at Smokin’ Jack’s in Morgantown. Troopers said they were advised by 911 officials that a black pickup truck with a Pennsylvania license plate was seen leaving the scene.

Troopers located the vehicle traveling northbound on Route 857 and initiated a traffic stop, according to the criminal complaint. Troopers then approached the vehicle and identified the passenger as John Maraney, 52, of Carmichaels, Pennsylvania.

Troopers said they found crack cocaine and marijuana in Maraney’s possession. Troopers stated they also found a black bag containing scales and a small black case containing small clear plastic bags and a sandwich bag of crystal meth and pills in the passenger side of the vehicle where Maraney was sitting.

Maraney has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to court documents. He is being held at North Central Regional Jail.
