Police arrest man accused of killing his cat

Morgantown Police have arrested a man accused of killing his cat.

Officers say that they responded to a residence on Jones Avenue in Morgantown after the roommates of Shaheed Seaton, 25, of Waldorf, Maryland, said they could here Seaton’s cat screaming for approximately 20 minutes in his room.

Seaton’s roommates also say that they could here a ‘pinging’ sound coming from the room.

Officers say that after Seaton left the residence, one of his roommates went into his room where he found the cat dead on the floor and a bent metal closet rod leaning against the wall beside it on Saturday, June 16.

Officers also say that Seaton’s roommates observed him carrying a black plastic bag to the dumpster on Sunday, June 17.

Seaton informed officers that he disciplined his cat with a metal rod, and that the cat was still alive after he left.

Seaton is charged with cruelty to animals.
