West Virginia State Police arrested a man accused of sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl.
On February 13, a state trooper went to the Randolph-Tucker Children’s Advocacy Center to attend a forensic interview with an 11-year-old girl. During the interview, the girl stated that John Lawrence, 46, of Elkins, had touched her where she did not want to be touched, according to a criminal complaint. The girl said during the interview that Lawrence had contacted her genitals with his own, according to police. The girl also stated that Lawrence told her not to tell anyone about the incident, police said.
On April 3, police interviewed Lawrence about the allegations. During this time, Lawrence confessed to an incident that happened when the girl was approximately 4-years-old, according to a criminal complaint.
Lawrence is charged with sexual abuse by a parent or guardian. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
