Suspicious death in Dolly Sods Wilderness Area ruled homicide

The Moorefield/Petersburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police have ruled a 2016 suspicious death a homicide.

The body of Ivan “Vanya” Perlis was discovered in a remote area of the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area on November 12, 2016 in Grant County, according to troopers.

After further investigation, the death of Perlis has officially been ruled a homicide, according to a press release issued by troopers on Wednesday. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted troopers with the investigation. 

Anyone with information regarding Perlis’ death should contact Senior Trooper B. W. Thorn at 304-538-2925. Information or tips may also be provided via the internet at www.wvcrime.com, troopers said.
