A Taylor County couple is facing child neglect charges after police said they used methamphetamine in their home where their juvenile son also lives.
On February 15, 2019 officers with the Grafton Police Department were informed by a fellow employee of Christopher Hake, 43, of Grafton that Christopher Hake had offered to sell him marijuana or methamphetamine. Police said the employee also stated that Christopher Hake and his wife Christina Hake, 42, lived on West Main Street in Grafton. Upon learning this information, officers began an investigation, according to court documents.
On February 19, officers conducted a trash pull outside the Hake’s residence and located mail addressed to both Christopher and Christina Hake, a bag containing less than .02 grams of methamphetamine, a green butane torch, multiple shards of a clear glass smoking device and a Q-tip with burn marks, according to police.
Another trash pull was conducted on February 25, where officers located more mail and documents addressed to Christopher and Christina Hake, clear bags containing less than .01 grams of methamphetamine, a butane refill canister, two shards of a clear smoking device and one metal smoking device..
A third trash pull was conducted on March 11, where two bags containing less that .01 grams of methamphetamine, a butane refill canister and a glass shard from a smoking device were recovered, according to police.
On April 5, officers were informed by the mother of Christopher Hake that he and Christina Hake were doing methamphetamine in their home while their juvenile son was in the residence, according to court documents. Officers said Christopher Hake’s mother also stated that in the early 2000’s she had custody of Christopher and Christina Hake’s son for three years because both of them lost custody of him due to drug charges in Ohio.
Officers said through thorough investigation and observation, they determined that Christopher and Christina Hake’s son lived with them at the residence on West Main Street, and that both Christopher and Christina Hake used methamphetamine at the home.
Christopher and Christina Hake have each been charged with child neglect creating risk of injury, according to court documents. Both are being held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
