A man and woman from Taylor County are facing child neglect charges after officers said they were found asleep in their car with meth near two young children.
On Thursday, March 14, officers with the Clarksburg Police Department found Tyler Rouzee, 27, and Katherine Mathews, 27, both of Grafton asleep in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Walmart on Emily Drive in Clarksburg. Officers said there were also two young children in the vehicle.
After waking Rouzee and Mathews, officers performed a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search, police found three containers of methamphetamine. All three containers were located where the two young children would have been able to access them, according to police. The methamphetamine found in the vehicle totaled approximately 3 grams in weight, officers said.
Rouzee and Mathews have each been charged with two counts each of gross child neglect creating risk of serious injury or death, according to court documents.
