A University High School teacher was charged with battery Monday after he was accused of assaulting another teacher at the school, according to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.

Based on several witness statements, University High School teacher Philip Bienek-Cate, 50, of Westover grabbed another teacher by the arm in front of a classroom full of students at the high school. The other teacher attempted to break free of the hold, but Bienek-Cate continued the restraint, causing the victim to scream out for help, according to deputies.

The victim later went to the emergency room for arm and shoulder x-rays, according to the complaint.
