A Morgantown man has been arrested on multiple charges for his involvement in the shooting at a gentleman’s club in Richard on Saturday that left one person hospitalized, according to a release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies said on Saturday, April 20, Fred Hudson, 25, fired a gun into a crowd of people at Club Xotica on Earl L. Core Road in Monongalia County. The victim was then transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment. The victim’s name is not being released at this time for safety reasons, according to deputies.
On Wednesday, April 24, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Detective Division, along with assistance from the Morgantown Police Department SWAT Team, Monongalia County SWAT Team and the Mon Metro Drug Task Force arrested Hudson, according to the release.
Hudson has been charged with malicious assault, wanton endangerment and prohibited person possessing a firearm, according to deputies. An interview by Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office Detectives was held with Hudson, who admitted he was the shooter at Club Xotica. Hudson is a Morgantown resident, but was originally from Detroit, Michigan, deputies said.
Hudson was arrested in December 2018 and charged with possession of a firearm by felon, brandishing and assault after police said he pointed a gun at a man and threatened to kill him.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department has released additional information about the shooting that took place at a gentleman’s club near Morgantown on Saturday morning.
In a press release issued by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, deputies said that on Saturday, April 20, at approximately 5:30 a.m., they were dispatched to a shots fired call at Club Xotica on Earl L. Core Road in Richard. 911 officials advised deputies that one person had been shot and was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle, the release stated.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to a limb, but the sheriff’s department did not specify further. Deputies said no other injuries were reported, and the victim’s name is not being released at this time.
Deputies requested assistance from the Morgantown Police Department, Granville Police Department and Star City Police Department while securing the scene of the shooting, according to the release.
The release also stated that the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department is investigating, and no additional information is being released at this time.

Officials in Monongalia County are looking into a shooting early Saturday.
It happened near an adult club in the Dellslow area.
