UPDATE (3/11/2019 1:45 p.m.) :
Clarksburg Police have arrested a man who is accused of having a role in a fatal shooting that took place early Thursday morning in Harrison County.
Malik Edler,19, of Clarksburg has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Rex Bailey of Stonewood. The incident happened just before 2 a.m. Thursday on Broaddus Avenue, according to the Harrison County Prosecutor’s Office.
Edler has been charged with armed robbery, malicious assault and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at North Central Regional Jail.
No one has been charged in the shooting, and Romano and Clarksburg Police have declined to elaborate at this time.
The shooting occurred around 1:50 a.m. Thursday on Broaddus Avenue, according to 911 officials.
Sometime before then, also on Thursday, a man showed up at the residence with $650 to buy a quarter pound of marijuana from Malik Corbin Edler, 19, of Clarksburg, according to court documents.
However, Edler, who is listed on court papers as a resident of the Broaddus Avenue address, put a gun to the buyer’s head and demanded the money, officers have alleged.
The buyer was told to leave; he did, telling a female who had given him the money for the purchase “that he had been robbed at gunpoint of the money,” according to court documents.
The woman then went to the door and knocked on it to ask about the money, and was let inside, where she was met by Edler, who was still armed with the handgun, officers have alleged.
Edler grabbed the woman by her clothing, “shoved her against the wall and struck her in the head with the firearm, causing a laceration to the victim’s head.
Harrison Magistrate Matt Osbourn set bail Saturday at $300,000 for Malik Corbin Edler at his initial appearance on the robbery, malicious assault and firearm charges.
