A Webster County man was arrested Friday after he allegedly robbed and beat an 82-year-old man.
Kenneth Linkous, 39, of Cowen, is accused of stealing a headlamp from the man and attempting to sell it back to him, according to the West Virginia State Police.
When Linkous attempted to sell the headlamp back to the man, the man tried to grab it and close the door, but Linkous held the door open, police said. The man then grabbed a machete, and he and Linkous wrestled over the machete, police said.

Police attempted to arrest Linkous near the Gary Jordan Apartments, but he ran from police toward the Morris Funeral Home in Cowen, according to court documents. Police then arrested Linkous behind the funeral home.
