West Virginia State Police arrested a Lewis County man accused of sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl.
On March 19, a trooper was called to a doctor’s office about an alleged sexual assault. At that time, the doctor told police that he had completed an exam on the girl and that he had some concerns, according to a criminal complaint.
Police then spoke with the girl’s foster parent, who stated that on March 16, the girl told him that Jimmy Bonnett, 41, of Weston, “has been raping her,” according to a criminal complaint. When the foster parent asked the girl about what was happening, she told him that Bonnett had had oral and vaginal sex with her, police said.
The girl told her foster parent that she cannot make Bonnett stop doing this to her, according to a criminal complaint.
On March 27, a trooper attended a forensic interview with the girl, at which time she stated that on the first occasion, Bonnett opened his pants and put her hand on his genitals, police said. The girl also said that Bonnett has forced vaginal and anal sex on her on several occasions, according to a criminal complaint. The girl described an incident in which she was bleeding because of what Bonnett was doing to her, according to police.
Bonnett is charged with sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust and first degree sexual assault. He is in Central Regional Jail, with bail set at $400,000.
