William Brown trial continued until July

The trial of an Upshur County man on sexual assault charges has been pushed back until July.

William Brown appeared before Judge Jacob Reger in Buckhannon Wednesday afternoon. Brown is charged with three counts of incest and 12 of sexual abuse of a child by a parent, guardian, or person in a position of trust.

Brown’s lawyers asked the court to continue the trial due to the scope and seriousness of the charges. They said they would be unable to properly analyze all the evidence in the case with the short time involved in the case.

Prosecutors agreed, and Brown’s trial will now be set for late July.
