“Dancing with Stars” Derek Hough looking for young humanitarians in West Virginia

The six-time winner on Dancing with the Stars, Derek Hough, has big plans for 2019 that will reach far beyond the world of dance.

The multi-talented entertainer spoke to WBOY about his initiative to honor the good work being done by young humanitarians right here in our state.

“We are looking for 16 young people under the age of 16 and we are going to donate $10,000 to their cause. Seeing all the giving that these youth are doing is amazing. So I am working with U.S. Cellular to focus on that,” said Hough.

The dance sensation is looking for those who are doing great things in their communities in a campaign Hough is calling “The Future of Good.”

“The reason I love this so much is because we tend to focus on the bad a lot and I feel wherever your focus goes, your energy flows. What’s bad is always available but so is what’s good and that’s what they are doing The Future of Good,” explained Hough.

So how do you dance your way into this golden opportunity?

From now through January 8, the public is encouraged to visit TheFutureOfGood.com to nominate young bold leaders who are making an impact in their communities.

“The secret to living is giving and I think when we are serving others and helping one another, it truly brings out the best in humane nature, the best in us.”
