An online public records database has ranked one county in North Central West Virginia as the highest performing school district in the state.
Backgroundchecks.org released a list of its top ranking school districts across the United States and Doddridge County took the top spot in West Virginia.
Rankings were determined by analyzing financial metrics and the student-to-teacher ratio as well as test scores and graduation rates gathered by the U.S. Department of Education.
“I believe we’ve got great vision,” Superintendent Adam Cheeseman. “I believe we are very innovative, cutting edge, and again, the people of this community support education better than anywhere else and the results are indicative of that. So, we’re extremely proud, extremely honored.”
Cheeseman also says the county’s success wouldn’t be possible without the support from the Doddridge County Board of Education.
