The West Virginia Division of Highways has announced a lane closure near the Marion County/Monongalia County line on I-79.

The lane closure will take place on I-79 northbound & southbound at mile post 142.37 beginning on Thursday, August 2.

The lane closure will be between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Thursday, August 2. Beginning Friday, August 3 at 7 p.m. the lanes will be closed 24 hours a day until Tuesday, August 7 at 6 a.m.

The purpose for the lane closure is rehabilitation work on the Whiteday Creek Bridge at the Marion County/Monongalia County line. Both northbound and southbound will be reduced to one lane each while crews are working. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

The DOH advises drivers to plan ahead and expect delays. The DOH also encourages drivers to find alternate routes if possible and allow additional time for their commute.

Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances could cause this project schedule to change.
