Dominion Energy supported the Fort New Salem Foundation with a check for three thousand dollars. Dominion presented the check this morning at the historical fort in Salem.
The money will be used to fix up an old administrative building that is used for multiple educational events.
Foundation members say a ramp will be built to make the nineteenth century building more accessible to its handicapped visitors.
“When we took Fort New Salem over in 2005, Dominion stepped us and was our first sponsor and they’ve never left us as a sponsor,” said Dr. Joseph Audia, Board Chair of FNS Foundation. “It’s been an ongoing relationship. Without them, we would not be where we are today.”
Audia says the renovations should be complete by the Annual Spirit of Christmas in the mountains event later on this fall.
