A red 1937 Baltimore and Ohio Railroad caboose has made its way back home to Davis and Elkins College Campus.
The caboose had been sitting on a residential lawn until it was donated to Sid and Sue Gillispie who had high hopes for the unique piece. The Gillispie’s worked with college officials to place the caboose on campus for students to enjoy.
“We presented them the idea that maybe this would be a great fit for the college because the caboose actually used to sit on the back campus at D& E. They are talking about doing a coffee house and a place that maybe there could be some live entertainment and music outside of it. It will be a great place for the students to mingle and hang out,” said Sid Gillispie.
Gillispie hopes a coffee house and deck will be finished late June. The caboose has been refinished and brings a historic piece back to campus grounds.
