Florida teachers send support to Lewis County teachers

Teachers in Lewis County, who are still on strike, were gaining support from five states away.

Teachers at Coral Gables Senior High School near Miami collected money to support teachers in West Virginia. The Florida teachers showed their support by sending them food while they were on strike.

Lewis County resident Lynn Paxson’s daughter is a guidance counselor in Florida and said she wanted to support the county she grew up in.

“She’s seen a lot of her friends that she went to school with her fighting for their jobs, and they wanted to do something so they got together and raised some money and sent it here,” said Paxson.

Paxson also delivered to teachers protesting at Robert L. Bland Middle School and Peterson Central Elementary.
