Accounting students from around the state gathered at Glenville State College for a conference Tuesday morning.
The annual Student Accounting Conference returned to GSC for its second year after a hiatus.
Glenville State professor Cheryl McKinney started the conference in the 90s to help connect students to contacts in the professional world, and said even today, there’s still a lot for them to learn from these meetings.
“Whether we’re doing an audit, we’re looking at systems, we’re looking at forensic accounting, all of these different things, and if you a junior or senior accounting major, what is it that you’re going to, how are you going to translate that into the workplace? What kind of job do you really want to get?” McKinney said.
Students from the University of Charleston, Marshall University, and WVU also attended the conference.
