Harrison County Commission approves latest annexation request

Harrison County Commission has made a motion to better secure one of its schools.

Commission decided to include 33 acres of land inside Clarksburg city limits where Mountaineer Middle School is located.

City officials, 911 officials and the school board advocated for the land’s inclusion inside Clarksburg for safety reasons.

“What was important to the Harrison County Board of Education as well as the city and the county was to make sure there was no confusion with the jurisdiction from the public safety point for this additional acreage that was annex,” said Martin Howe, city manager.

The land annexed in is where Mountaineer Middle School is and the football field for Liberty High School.
