Students at Norwood Elementary School in Stonewood showed their commitment to a drug-free life on Wednesday.
The school held a balloon release as part of its celebration of Red Ribbon Week, which is a national anti-drug and alcohol event. Each day this week, students have been involved in activities around a different anti-drug theme.
Principal Tarra Squires said the school used the opportunity to highlight the dangers of drugs and as a teaching moment.
“We also have tags. We use this as an educational lesson as well. We place tags on our balloons, and they have our school name and what we’re doing to celebrate Red Ribbon Week,” said Principal Tarra Squires.
The tags ask the finder to get in touch with the school, and the places they are found are mapped for students to see.
