Grants help provide educational resources to fill in the gaps.
Philanthropy West Virginia is a state leadership association for foundations, corporate giving and individual philanthropist. Philanthropy West Virginia helps these entities support and invest in West Virginia citizens and communities.
On Thursday, the group heard from Dr. Steve Paine, state superintendent, about opportunities in education.
“To share what is the vision and focus for education coming up to allow for the foundations to know what the priorities are but also how can they make grants to support student and teacher success,” said Paul Daugherty, President and CEO of Philanthropy West Virginia
Philanthropy West Virginia said that in total foundations gave 65 million dollars last year to support various programs and communities.
