Monday morning, students at South Middle School in Morgantown participated in the State Treasurer’s budget activity.
It was a hands on financial learning experience titled “Get a Life.”
Students were given a realistic family budget and visited various business stations while managing an expense ledger.
The program teaches basic math skills and problem-solving techniques.
“I really think this game of life, that we go through, that they are experiencing today, firsthand, is going to change their life,” said John Perdue, state treasurer.
Community volunteers from local businesses helped with the learning experience by serving as sales people, insurance agents and doctors in the simulated world.
