Students hopped back on the bus in Randolph County

School buses are back on the road in Randolph County.

Randolph County Schools received grant funding from the West Virginia Department of Education Campaign for Grade-Level Reading to host a mobile Feed and Read program. The bus has been traveling since Tuesday delivering books and snacks to the county’s rural communities.

“We particularly focused on the outlying areas. Communities in the valley, at Harman, Pickens, Coalton, do not necessarily have access to those things and that’s why we’re targeting them, to make sure that kids have access to books and a healthy snack,” said Randolph County Schools Director of Curriculum & Federal Program Amy Rowan Smith.

Each student left with a book and enjoyed a snack during a read-aloud activity. Coordinators plan to host the program throughout the summer next year
