Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a ‘Stop the Bleed’ advanced first aid course.
The course is designed to teach all about how to stabilize a patient after a severe injury. The course will cover what steps to take to manage a gunshot, puncture, and stab wound before a first responder can arrive on the scene.
“Tucker is a very rural county and somebody may get there before us and they may not know what to do. If they get the training, they will know what to do if someone is bleeding out,” said Tucker County Firefighter EMT Joseph Strait.
The class will be held at the Canaan Valley VFD Community Room on Saturday from noon to 2. Walk-ins are welcomed, and the class is free.
