Upshur County parent says teacher strike creates division among parents and teachers

Education

Rock Cave parent Nancy Heater said the teacher work stoppage has negative consequences.

Heater said that she is not a teacher hater but wants kids back in classrooms.

She said one of the negative effects is the division between parents and teachers. Heater also said that every teacher knows that one of the key factors to having a good student is to have a good parent.

Heater said she believes that as a result of the work stoppage, there will be repercussions when it comes to voting for the next school levy.

“So I believe that when it comes time to vote for a levy they [parents] aren’t going to see the bigger picture. They are going to see how they were personally affected by what the teachers have chosen to do,” said Nancy Heater, Upshur County parent.

She went on to say that most people are facing higher insurance premiums, not just state employees.
