Students and faculty at Glenville State College are helping area residents prepare their tax returns for another year.
For the 22nd year, GSC will be a VITA tax prep site.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is a federal program that provides similar support nationwide.
The Glenville State site doesn’t just help taxpayers; it also provides experience for accounting students at the college.
“They see that it’s not as daunting a task sometimes as it seems that it is to begin with, and we can help arm them with some skills that they oftentimes will say, ‘you know, I think I could do this,'” said Cheryl McKinney, business department chair and coordinator of the VITA site at GSC.
The GSC VITA site will be open at the Heflin Administration Building Room 309B from 3 to 5 on Tuesday and Thursday and 2 to 6 on Wednesday.
