Area students may have a couple more weeks before they head back to school, but teachers are already getting prepared.
The 2018 Summer Summits for Education Excellence are happening around the state this week, including at the Bridgeport Conference Center for science, social studies and the arts.
The summits offer teachers a look at new teaching practices, and continue to raise the focus on arts paired with STEM education.
“Art is so important for students, and it’s shown that students who participate in the arts have a higher academic achievement. Science, learning science, the scientific method, problem solving, all those things help students every day in their life and goes on to their careers,” said Joey Wiseman, executive director of the Office of Middle/Secondary Learning.
The sessions continue through the end of the week, and others are taking place in Morgantown and Charleston.
