WVU President Gordon Gee reads to children for National Read Across America Day

Friday was National Read Across America Day as well as Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

West Virginia University President Gordon Gee of West Virginia University celebrated, along with many others.

Friday, Gee read a Dr. Seuss book to the children at West Virginia University’s Child Learning Center.

The day was meant to be a motivational and awareness day, calling all children and youth in every community across the United States to celebrate reading.

“It’s great to see that we have such a young group of wonderful Mountaineers coming up. But you know, it brings me great joy. I’m the Grandfather of five year old granddaughters and I miss them a lot, so when I can come over and do this, it’s just great for me too,” said Gee, WVU president.

Children welcomed Gee by making signs and cards and wearing paper bow ties.
