Crew members for YouthBuild North Central West Virginia spent several days in Virginia and Washington, DC learning what it means to be an effective and strong leader.
YouthBuild AmeriCorps Conference of Young Leaders brought members from all over the nation to participate in workshops, tours, and a service fair. One crew member from Randolph County shared her experience with fellow members and shared her opinion on which qualities a true leader needs to possess.
“A good leader to me is that you are always there for the person and that you always have your head up high, you know, even when something is going wrong. To me its where you kind of just put your stuff aside and try to work with everyone else to try to make their lives better first,” said Crew Member Katrianna Collins.
For 30 years, the young leaders conference has given YouthBuild students the opportunity to meet and engage in leadership development from graduate leaders and staff.
