Full-restoration underway on historic Maxwell-Duncan home in Clarksburg

An historic Clarksburg home in the Quality Hill neighborhood is finally getting some attention after more than three decades of vacancy.

The house was built in 1872 and is currently undergoing a full restoration thanks to its new owner, local attorney Tim Gentilozzi.

Attention is being paid to the home’s exterior, right now, with work being done to the windows, masonry and front porch.

“This area is in need of some work,” Gentilozzi said. “The whole street has needed some upgrading and some work, and we feel that this will be the catalyst project to help bring life back into this neighborhood. Most everything that’s built today is not of this quality. So when you get a house like the Maxwell-Duncan, you’re really getting a treasure and that’s why it need to be saved.”

Gentilozzi says they expect to get to the building’s interior this summer and hopes to turn the house and property into an events venue and greenspace.

He hopes work can be finished by Thanksgiving.
