Glenville State College has received two grants to provide new equipment to its land resources department.
The grants total more than $15,000 and they come from the Higher Education Policy Commission and the Weyerhaeuser company.
Both grants will go towards new equipment for geographic information systems technology, like drones and GPS systems, providing students a leg up as they begin the job hunt.
“Well a lot of places, like the Division of Forestry, are moving towards using drones for some of their exercises, so using these drones gives us more on-field advantage for the future development of forestry and other natural resource practices,” said Cody Mullens, a senior in the land resources program.
Staff in the department are still working to decide how put money from both grants to the best use.
