Harrison County Commission moves to intervene and appeal case involving Sgt. Ankrom

News

The Harrison County Commission motioned to file an intervention in the case of a sergeant with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.

Back in March of 2015, then-sheriff Albert Marano demoted Timothy Ankrom from sergeant to deputy. The case was then in front of Harrison County’s Civil Service Commission where the board upheld Marano’s actions.

A Monongalia County judge recently ruled that the civil service commission’s findings were unwarranted.

On Monday, Harrison County Commissioners motioned to file to intervene in the case as a “joint employer.”

“He has ruled that our civil service commission did not perform its civil service commission duties properly, the way that I read his decision, and we would like clarification on what our civil service commission did wrong,” said David Hinkle, commissioner.

If the judge approves the commission’s motion to intervene, the case will then go to the Supreme Court of West Virginia.
