Harrison County Elks team up with Texas Roadhouse to serve local veterans

The Harrison County Elks and Texas Roadhouse teamed up Friday morning making today Veterans Day.

Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center hospital patients and nursing home residents were treated to a steak dinner at the Roadhouse.

These veterans were unable to get out on Veterans Day earlier this year. So, the hospital, restaurant and Elks made special arrangements for Friday, to be their day.

“To me personally, it’s great that organizations like the Elks Club got a way to provide these services to veterans especially veterans in nursing homes that could be potentially forgatten about by the general public,” said Marine Corps Veteran Shane Maple.

“Going along with Doctor Snyder’s philosophy, everyday is Veterans Day so today [Friday] is Veterans Day for the VA hospital and the nursing home vets,” Flavious Haynes

Seventh grader WI student, Kayle Nut, sang the National Anthem before Friday’s dinner.
