Alzheimer’s Association gears up for Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Harrison

The Alzheimer’s Association’s West Virginia chapter is gearing up for its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s event.

Sunday, they were set up at the Bridgeport Farmer’s Market getting signups and donations for the walk.

Officials say the purpose of the booth was to increase community involvement for the walk that happens at the end of September in Clarksburg.

People looking to walk can go online to www.alz.org, or text alzwalk to 51555 on their cellphones to signup, but are reminded to specify you’re signing up for the Clarksburg walk when you’re signing up your team.

“Our goal this year is to raise $33,000. Our other goal is to have over 400 walkers, and 40-plus teams,” said Addie Maxwell, Clarksburg Team Recruitment Co-Chair.

“And then whatever you want to contribute, whether it’s just a donation or if you want to do fundraising, it’s whatever the team prefers to do in order to help us raise dollars for research,” said Pam McDonald, Clarksburg Team Recruitment Co-Chair.

Teams can be as small as just two people.

The walk is scheduled for Sunday September 30 at 2 p.m. at the Clarksburg Amphitheater.
