Pro-life West Virginians gathered together at the Christian Apostolic Church in Clarksburg, as Attorney General Patrick Morrisey announced the launch of ‘Pro-life Mountaineers for Patrick Coalition’.
“Taxpayer dollars have been going to pay for abortions, covering all 9 months of pregnancy for any reason or no reason at all and that’s why some 35,000 abortions in West Virginia have been paid for by our tax dollars to the tune of some 10 million dollars” stated Doug Joseph, state treasurer for West Virginians for Life.
Morrisey and endorsers of West Virginians for Life focused on a range of topics, including the support of amendment one, which would take federal funding away from abortion.
“[We’re] always looking for opportunities to weigh in and lead on the issue of life. We’ve joined an effort by the states to ensure the states have the ability to defund Planned Parenthood and this is an important legal question that is going to continue to go through the courts and we always stand up,” said Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.
Recently, Morrisey was endorsed by West Virginians for Life and received praise for his “outstanding record of commitment to the pro-life cause.”
Last week the National Right to Life Committee endorsed Patrick Morrisey for U.S. Senate saying his “position on life reflects the true values of West Virginia’s voters.”
In response to Patrick Morrisey’s campaign event in Clarksburg Thursday, the West Virginia Democratic Party issued the following statement:
“Pat Morrisey is profiting off of the Planned Parenthood lobbying effort in Washington, D.C., and is trying to have his cake and eat it too. The real Patrick Morrisey is being exposed as a Washington phony who is only out for himself.”
