Omni Associates and Architects hosted a presentation Monday night to Bridgeport City Council regarding the planning for the Bridgeport Sports Complex.
An update was given on the status of the complex. Architects have developed a list of cost for each component of the indoor recreation facility. The facility will have a field house with basketball courts and an elevated multi lane walking track, aquatics component with event seating and indoor turf.
“We have pretty much identified all the amenities that we want. We’ve put some estimated numbers towards those amenities, and now we’re trying to get those to fit into the budget. We’ve definitely identified what work needs to be done for the excavation and we’re going to move forward with that in the spring summer time when it’s the best time to get it done, and get it done right,” said Andrew Lang, mayor of the City of Bridgeport.
Also, a council approved a first reading of an ordinance allowing for the annexation of 45 acres of territory into the corporate limits of the City of Bridgeport. A new housing development will be put in along Platinum Drive near City Net.
