Officials said children entering foster care continues to rise.

In fact, West Virginia has the highest entry rate for children entering the foster care system.

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a volunteer group in place that helps judges determine child abuse and neglect cases.

CASA of Harrison County held informative sessions on Wednesday for those interested in becoming a volunteer.

“Really it just takes someone who has a passion for children. On average volunteers spend 10 hours per month with an appointed family, more or less depending on the child’s needs,” said Alisha Madia, executive director.
