Shinnston is preparing for its annual Christmas parade on Dec. 2.
The parade starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday and will be followed by a tree lighting ceremony and band performance.
City leaders said it’s a wonderful time of year for fun festivities.
“Shinnston has always loved celebrating Christmas. They have had Christmas lights for years. We just got brand new Christmas lights. It really just keeps people excited for a small town, going through the shops downtown, eating in the restaurants, spending time together,” said AJ Hammond, community development director.
Children of Shinnston can write a letter to Santa and turn it in at the city building. Please include a return address and stamp. Letters are due by Dec. 17.
