CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – The Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Center has been nationally recognized by the Civil Air Patrol.
The school was presented with the Frank G. Brewer, Sr. Civil Air Patrol Memorial Aerospace Award as a way to recognize its partnership over the years and the outstanding contributions to the advancement of youth in aerospace.
Several Civil Air Patrol officers were in attendance to present the plaque.
“It generates interest in aviation, and aviation is, I would say, a growing field, but actually it’s an exploding field,” Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center director Thomas Stose said. “And there’s more positions for pilots and technicians than there are candidates coming through. So this helps develop an idea in a young person’s mind that aviation is a career field that will last them a lifetime.”
The RCB National Aerospace Education Center’s director has now been invited to attend the Civil Air Patrol’s national conference in Baltimore in August.
