A local utility facility welcomed area students for a look at possible careers Thursday morning.
The Clarksburg Water Board hosted 70 ninth-grade students from Robert C. Byrd High School as part of National Drinking Water Week.
Students stopped at each of three stations, taking a tour of the water treatment plan, looking at the water board’s lab, and hearing more about potential careers in the industry, something board staff say will be there for some time to come.
“It’s good earnings potential. It’s steady work, there’s never any layoffs. There’s someone here all the time,” said General Manager Richard Welch.
The water board has participated in events for National Drinking Water Week since it was started around 40 years ago.
