Early voting is underway in Bridgeport for a special election that would authorize a levy to fund various programs and projects.
So far, turnout for early voting has been low, but there’s still more than a week to cast a ballot early.
City clerk Donna Krivosky said the five-year levy funds public safety, the Bridgeport Public Library, the Department of Parks and Recreation and water and sewer lines.
“Sometimes we have a good turnout early voting, and other times we don’t,” Krivosky said. “I don’t know because it’s a special levy if we will have a big turnout for early voting. I’d just like to encourage everyone to come out and vote, whether you’re for it or against it, at least come out and exercise your right to vote.”
If you plan on voting early, or waiting until February 16 to cast your ballot in the special election, make sure you bring a valid form of photo identification.
For those interested in voting early, registered voters should go to the city municipal building on Main Street. Early voting starts at 7:00 a.m. and lasts until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, until February 13; and on Saturday, February 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
