The Harrison County H.O.P.E (Harrison Ongoing Prevention Efforts) Lions Club is known for helping meet the need of children who face neglect as result of substance abuse.
In Wednesday night’s meeting, the club was able to give a donation of school supplies to North View Elementary School in Clarksburg. School officials said they do have a levy that helps the schools a lot, but any little extra thing that can be donated that students can use is always helpful.
“The kids are very appreciative of these new items; they get very excited to get something brand new to start the school year. So, teachers are excited to give those to the students as well as the students are appreciative of receiving them,” said Danielle Veltri, Principal of North View Elementary School.
H.O.P.E Lions Club also sponsored two students to attend boys and girls state to learn about leadership. The next meeting will be August 12, at Mia Margherita in Bridgeport.
