Kara Bowles, a Severe and Profound Special Education teacher at Mountaineer Middle School, named 2019 Harrison County School’s Teacher of The Year at Harrison County BOE meeting Tuesday night.

Bowles said it was a tremendous honor to receive the recognition and that there are a lot of wonderful teachers throughout Harrison County. A parent of one of her students nominated her for the recognition.

“Actually they (the students) make a bigger difference in my life than I make in theirs hands-down, but they’re just wonderful to work with, and we just work together as a team in the classroom, and help the kids continue to grow and improve in so many different ways,” said Bowles.

Bowles received three $300 from the BOE as well as candy, flowers, and lots of hugs from her students in attendance.
