The City of Bridgeport has just increased in size within its own borders.
Harrison County Commission agreed Wednesday to annex more than 45 acres.
The property is owned by Trailhead Investments and is located off Platinum Drive.
Bridgeport city attorneys said the land will probably be used for residential development, and that being annexed into city limits has many benefits.
“Bridgeport has a full time obviously professional police department. They’ve got a full time fire department. It’s a very well equipped fire department. If the streets are brought into the city there will be street maintenance. There could be street lights, plus you get the benefits of annexation,” Bridgeport City Attorney Norman Farley said.
Commission also swore in new Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy Zachery Kesling during Wednesday’s meeting.
