Local CASA non-profit organization holds sixth annual Superhero 5K

This month is Child Abuse and Awareness Month and organizations in the area are holding events to spread awareness throughout West Virginia.

The sixth annual CASA Superhero 5K event was held at White Oaks in Bridgeport to support the Marion and Harrison County CASA non-profit organization.

Director of the local CASA organization Vesna Meiner said the 5K race was $25 for all participants including a $10 villain chase for the kids with all proceeds going to the local CASA organization.

“We try to make this a family friendly event, and we have face painting and Baca is here, we have a photbooth, an obstacle course for the kids,” said Meiner.

This event also included prizes for the winners of the superhero costume contest from different age groups along with metals for the top runners in the 5K.
