Staff of the Mountaineer Food Bank puckered up for a good cause this afternoon.
After raising its goal of $5,000 to purchase fresh produce for its clients, staff at the bank traveled to Nolan Farms in Harrison County to kiss a pig, as promised.
The money raised will buy enough produce to provide for clients there for a week, but staff are looking for ways to add more year round.
“We’re constantly looking at that, how do we provide enough food for the rest of the year, because we’re out there distributing food all 52 weeks, all year long. We’re trying to incorporate this produce facet into all of those,” said MFB Director Chad Morrison.
Morrison said the bank tries to focus on sending nutritious and fresh food to its clients as often as possible.
